Cabana Boys Interview
Today, we’re getting the chance to chat with Nelson from Cabana Boys! You’ve prob seen them on IG serving drinks and getting the party started. Naturally, I was very curious about this company when it popped up on my feed - it seems like a very fun add-on to a party weekend, so we wanted to dive more into learning about the founder and what they offer. Cabana Boys has worked with over 4000 parties, so naturally they have a knack for event planning… PS- scroll to the bottom of this article to get a discount code of their services!
About Nelson & Cabana Boys: Owner and Chief Cabana Boy who Started Cabana Boys Events in 2020 with the goal of creating memories for people during life's most special moments. 4000 parties later, he's achieving this goal and working toward becoming the national leader in the party hosting and bartending space.
How and why did you start Cabana Boys?
I started Cabana Boys back in 2020 on a whim. I was invited last-minute to a friends bachelorette party just to hang at their pool. When I arrived, there were two other guys there, who the MOH had paid to hang out and serve drinks. That got my wheels turning, so I spun it up the next day and started to get to work on it. Eventually the business snowballed and bookings started flooding in.
I really didn’t start the company with a specific vision in mind, but I knew that I really loved creating memories for people. Cabana Boys Events is clearly an avenue for me to do that and where I find the most fulfillment.
What’s been your favorite way you’ve seen Cabana Boys used at events?
Bachelorettes are our bread and butter, but the other event types that pop up are what get me excited. Birthdays, group trips, themed events, golf tournaments, weddings, and more. Between our 5 brands we are able to service any event type and that’s what gets me the most pumped!
For someone planning a weekend celebration in a new destination, what are your top three pieces of advice to ensure a smooth and memorable experience?
First and foremost, allow some room for flexibility and relaxation. If every minute of every day is planned down to the second, you’re setting yourself up for late arrivals, tired friends, and disappointment. Schedule in some buffer time between events and time for everyone just to relax a bit.
Secondly, is hire someone who knows the city and is there locally. This can be an event planner, but it could also be another vendor or service. Having the local insider viewpoint is super valuable and will lead to more fun and not just going to the most overcrowded tourist spots.
Lastly, remember why you are there. This is a special weekend for the bride and it’s about spending time with her closest friends. If you focus on each other and the shared experience you are having, it will end up being an epic weekend.
On the flip side – for those planning a luxury bachelorette weekend, what are some of your favorite splurge items?
I’d recommend a nice restaurant and decor services. For the ultimate splurge, I recommend having someone plan the whole weekend for you. That way you just show up and party!
For a stress-free bachelorette weekend, what are your top three tips for the bride and her crew?
Am I allowed to say book our services? Haha of course we can help throw an amazing event and make it stress-free, but I definitely would recommend catering the trip to what the group likes, not what’s popular. If the bride and her friends are big party animals, center the trip around nightlife. If they are foodies, hit some unique restaurants. If they are outdoorsy, plan for some hikes. It doesn’t always have to be bar after bar, club after club.
