2021 Astrology: A Glimpse at the Year to Come

This article was written by Sam, a Luv Collective practitioner based in Charleston. There is much to say about the year 2020, however, astrologers have been waiting years to see what would come of a year with as many challenging placements as it endured.

January’s lunar eclipse in Cancer set the mood for tearing down our comfort zones and attacking the way we communicate. January also hosted the conjunction of Pluto and Saturn in Capricorn, another alignment that caused the snowball effect of a lot of painful growth and adaptation of this exigent year. Not to mention that there was an additional lunar eclipse in Sagittarius, happening simultaneously with Venus retrograde in Gemini, at the end of May. I mean, that’s just a small slice of 2020’s wild, unsettling vibe. It’s been a chaotic year.

Despite the many onerous aspects of this year, preparations were made to ring in the new year with a bang on the winter solstice, December 21. Jupiter and Saturn met in Aquarius, the great conjunction, both an astrological and astronomical wonder to behold. This energy shift was so unique and powerful, everyone felt this transition. The Sun also shifted into Capricorn on this same day, helping us focus on what we want in our life, and what we will do to achieve our goals. Luckily, Capricorn is the sign of focus, diligence, and manifestation through hard work. The stars aligned this time, after such a hard year. Now a true opportunity for a better year awaits; a latitude to come through as a shimmering gem of the best version of ourselves.

But what do the stars hold for next year?

Romance. Joy. The pursuit of dreams. All of these await us in the new year. Specifically, the late spring and on into the heat of summer. The universe holds its breath as Jupiter will sink its toes into Pisces for the most dreamy, magical summer. Pisces is ruled by Jupiter, and when placements like Pisces come home to Jupiter, we find that the dreamy Pisces energy synchronizes with Jupiter’s luck to find the summer of dreams.

Planning a wedding in 2021?

For those who put off your wedding until the summer of 2021, just know that the wait will be worth it. Specifically, the most dreamy days are going to be when Jupiter falls into Pisces for those couple of weeks. Jupiter will be in Pisces from May 13 until July 28, when it’s retrograde brings it back into Aquarius. Which, while retrograde can be a ‘scary’ word in astrology, it’s honestly a misconception. Especially in this case. As the best part of Jupiter in Pisces is that this is essentially a sneak peek into 2022’s main vibe. Once Jupiter goes direct again on October 18, it will be slowly working its way back to Pisces for 2022’s year of dreams.

If love is on your mind specifically, it’s also important to pay attention to Venus’s place amongst the stars as well. Venus will enter Taurus on April 14. Planetary placements are at their strongest when in their home signs. With Taurus cozily at home in it’s Venus, romance is sure to follow.

I think it’s important to note that romance is not always about lovers, but also can be about your besties, or even yourself. Venus rules relationships and Venus says she means all of them. Romance is not limited to an entanglement between sheets, Venus is that and so much more. It’s all of our intimate human interactions that she influences.

On August 16, Venus sets up shop in Libra, coming back home again. Libra, also ruled by Venus, makes this placement peak romance. Additionally, Venus’s next move will be Scorpio on September 10, and this placement will take down the walls of our insecurities in our relationships, leaving only the intensity of our dueling desires. What I am getting at is, this is a great time to go on your honeymoon.

As we say goodbye to 2020, we can know that while 2021 has its own unique issues (especially in January unfortunately), there will be a relief. There will be a relief and there will even be a bit of magic as it slowly begins to unfold and heal much of the trauma from 2020.
